Mitsubishi's Lancer Evolution joins forces with Victoria Police.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has announced a new assignment for the company’s ultimate performance car, the Lancer Evolution – the vehicle has been named as the official promotional vehicle for the Victoria Police.

Sporting the familiar chequered Victoria Police decals, this special Lancer Evolution is to be featured in numerous public events such as open days, charity events, educational sessions, parades and regular street patrols.
President and chief executive officer of MMAL, Robert McEniry, is pleased to be able to support the Victoria Police with Mitsubishi’s top performance vehicle for the use of the men and women in blue.
“The Lancer Evolution has an enviable reputation for stand-out styling and fantastic performance in its standard guise, but the addition of the Police paintwork makes it a real head-turner and the perfect choice for a Victoria Police promotional vehicle.
“Everyone at Mitsubishi is proud to see this Lancer Evolution with its striking police decals and we’re sure it will spark a positive reaction from the public at the many events requiring police presence in the coming months,” said McEniry.
The special police edition Lancer Evolution has already been put to work by the Victoria Police, and its most recent appearance was as a lead car in the National Police Remembrance Day parade in late September.  Future assignments scheduled for the vehicle include appearances at the Mansfield Show and Emergency Services Car Show  this month, the annual Cops’n’kids Camp in November, and Shepparton’s Rock and Rod Car Show in March 2009 and the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal in April 2009.
Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution is powered by an inter-cooled and turbo-charged 2.0-litre DOHC inline four cylinder engine which generates an impressive 217 kW of power at 6500 rpm and 336Nm of torque at 3500 rpm and is available with a revolutionary Twin Clutch Sport Shift transmission.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is available at Mitsubishi Ralliart dealers nationally.
